Please keep your child home if they are not well so that they can get better and do not get others sick.

We have just received the parts for the GaGa Ball Game, and are really excited to get it up and running at our school. If you are not aware of Gaga Ball, you may wish to click on links attached below.
We are hoping that we can get some help in order to assemble the kit and get our students started with this exciting new playground activity.
Specifically, we are looking for donations of wood plus time from a couple of people to help put it together as soon as possible, hopefully this week.
Could you please email me ASAP if you are able to help in any way? Assembly sounds fairly simple. It is in the attached link.

Last year the district had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Kristin Buhr speak about youth and the challenges of anxiety. She is visiting again to review the information as well as provide further explanation and tools to support children who struggle with anxiety. Dr. Buhr has provided the overview below to explain the focus of her presentation:
**Is your child struggling with anxiety? Worrying about everything? Avoiding things? Develop a better understanding of anxiety and anxiety problems in children and youth. Learn about helpful resources and effective cognitive-behavioral (CBT) strategies for managing anxiety, which include relaxation exercises for “dialing down” physical symptoms of anxiety; healthy thinking strategies to combat worries; and tools for facing feared situations. Get tips on helping your child develop a healthy foundation, deal with difficult emotions, face challenging situations, learn to tolerate uncertainty, and build resilience.
There will be two sessions open to parents, educators and the community. The first session will be hosted at Happy Valley on January 27th from 3:00 to 4:30, and then there will be a second session later that same day in Sooke at Journey Middle School from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. It should be an informative session.
The Transportation Department has informed us that bus passes have been distributed to all registered paid or waived Middle school students. Each bus driver has a list of all Elementary students who have paid or been waived.
Effective Tuesday afternoon, January 19th, Middle school students without bus passes, or Elementary school students not on the bus drivers list, will be denied return rides from schools.
Any questions please call the Transportation Department at 250-474-9800.
