Dear John Stubbs families,

Thank you for a lovely holiday season and beginning of the school year.   We at John Stubbs wish you all a happy and safe holiday.

We are so grateful to the PAC who hosted a lovely hot chocolate and cookie morning for all students. We are very grateful for Santa who stayed all morning to talk to students! PAC also contributed to a fabulous new game called GAGA ball. Check it out on you tube. We hope to have parents help us build this game for students to play in the New Year. If any of you are handy with directions and carpentry please e-mail the school.

Thanks to the PAC again and all parents for the very successful fundraiser, the K-2 Christmas shop, $950.00 was raised for the Goldstream food bank. Thanks to the parents for donating items, the children for shopping and the PAC for organizing.

Due to numerous safety concerns we are going to try locking the door on Zealous Crescent after 9am in the morning. All courtyard and middle school doors will remain unlocked. Our grade 4 and 5 students will now enter the school from the courtyard.

Please remember if you are visiting the school for longer than a drop off or pick up we need you to sign in at the front office.

We look forward to a wonderful 2016. Ms. Smith and Ms. Szalipszki

Stuff the Bus Campaign:

On Friday Santa came for a visit, arriving in a BC transit bus! He and his elves collected the donations provided by the John Stubbs Community for the Stuff the Bus campaign. Thank you to all the families that could donate food, money or toys. It was a huge success and we collected enough food to fill the back of the transit bus! While waiting for Santa to arrive, all the elementary school students sang Christmas songs – it was fantastic to hear so many voices singing together! Bravo tout-le-monde!

On Thursday, December 17th, the PAC Elves will be serving cookies and hot chocolate to all students and staff in the middle school foyer.

Students please bring a mug for the hot chocolate.  Parents stay tuned for cookie donation and volunteer sign up sheet.

For all parents who are interested, we will be hosting the following information sessions:

For Kindergarten parents with children who were born in 2011, and starting school in September 2016, there will be an information session on Monday, January 11th, 2016, at 6:30pm at John Stubbs in the Learning Commons on the 2nd floor.

For parents with children going into Grade 6 in September 2016 who are interested in Late French Immersion, there will be an information session on Thursday, January 21st, at 6:30 pm at John Stubbs in the Learning Commons on the 2nd floor.

John Stubbs will be supporting a Food Drive to support vulnerable families in our community.  We are teaming up with BC Transit to try and “Stuff the Bus” full of non-perishable food items that will be dispersed to families in need over the holidays.

We would like each classroom to “adopt” a family and help to make their Christmas a little brighter. We can do this by providing non-perishable food items for the family.  Please bring your donations to the school by December 10th! Boxes will be placed in each classroom. Any family able to supply a large box in which to place food collected in the classroom, please bring it or send it in on Monday.

Santa and some of his elves will visit the school on the morning of Friday December 11th, arriving on a BC transit bus dressed up like Rudolf.
