Home / Important Information / Spring Break Message from the Principal

With Spring Break just around the corner, I thought I’d take a moment to touch base with you all. I have been back at work since February and my two ankles are healing well. It has been wonderful to return to school and see the students’ lovely faces again! A very big thank you goes to Mme Gibson, Mme Ryan and Mme Dorran for doing such an amazing job during my absence.

Our two spring concerts were a big success.  It was amazing to see the large number of people attending each evening and even the daytime performances were well attended. The music teachers really enjoyed spending the first months of school focussed on getting to know the children, establishing routines and teaching curriculum before beginning to prepare for the spring concerts in January.

Important Information – Attendance Line Change: We will be having a slight change in how families report student absences. After Spring break, we will no longer be using the Attendance Line. All absences will be reported using email only. We have found that the attendance line is difficult to use, as messages are very frequently garbled or difficult to hear and understand. Starting March 30th, when you know your child will be absent, please email us at:  johnstubbs@sd62.bc.ca . (Save this address on your cell phone). Please indicate the child’s first and last name, grade, teacher and date of the absence. Please also note that you can see your child’s attendance records on the parent portal. Information about this can be found at: http://districtwebsite.web.sd62.bc.ca/parents/myed-family-portal/

As always, please feel free to contact the office staff if you have any questions. We are all here to help!

Our Cell Phone Policy remains in place. All cell phones should be turned off and kept in lockers at all times from arrival to departure. We encourage parents to communicate with their child through our main office: 250-478-5571. We will be happy to help. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Have a wonderful, rejuvenating and restful spring break. We look forward to seeing all our students on the first day back –  March 30th.
