School will start on Tuesday, September 4th, with a half-day session from 8:40am to 11:48am. Busses will run to this schedule. From Wednesday, September 5th school will follow the full day schedule.

First Day of School – Elementary Students (grade 1 to 5)

Kindergarten: Kindergarten students do not attend school in the first week of school. Instead, there will be a ‘gradual entry’ so that the children have time to become accustomed to their new school life. Letters regarding gradual entry have been mailed to parents who have registered their child. Please contact the office if you have any questions.

Returning Students: For the first few days of school, returning students will return to their last year’s teacher and classroom. They will stay there until the school board announces that schools can move the students to their new classroom and teacher. All effort is made for this to be done as quickly as possible, usually in the first week of school. When the warning bell rings at 8:40, students should line up in their old classroom line. They should look for their last year’s teacher.

New Students: The warning bell will ring at 8:40. At this time, all new students go to the elementary gym. Once there, they will be brought to their temporary classroom, where they will stay until the school board announces that the schools can move the students to their new classroom and teacher. All effort is made for this to be done as quickly as possible, usually in the first week of school.

School Supplies

Kindergarten students: Teachers have purchased bulk supplies and parents are asked to pay $30 to cover these costs.  If you have not already paid this fee, payment will be taken at the main office. These supplies will be set up by teaching staff in the classrooms.

All grade 1 to 5 students are asked to bring only a pencil case and their lunch kit for the first week of school.  Full supplies should not be brought earlier than Monday, September 10th as students may not be in their forever classroom until then.

Grades 1, 2 and 3 students:  School supplies can be ordered on line through School Start.  Although not mandatory, this process will save you both time and money.  If supplies are ordered through School Start they will be delivered directly to your home.  Orders will be accepted online until October 1, 2018, although a $5 late fee will be applied after August 1, 2018.  Please click on the following link to order  schoolstart.ca/school/2812.
